Success In Network Marketing Requires Leadership Skills

Since our success in network marketing relies on our ability to positively influence others, it is important to become a student of leadership. As an example, I've made it a habit to clear 30 minutes of each day to read up on leadership or personal development. While running errands, I listen to a book on cd on the topic as well. This constant study keeps me focused on my goal and helps me to communicate to my team effectively.

Personal Development Books

The book that was pivotal in my life was Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It is a must read if you haven't already. This book is based on a study that took him 25 years to compile, at the request of Pittsburgh steel tycoon, Andrew Carnegie. Napoleon Hill's work was voluntary, but has brought riches to hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world who read this book and acted on it.

Other mentors and books that have shaped my success in network marketing are:

Robert Allen: "Multiple Streams of Income" and "Mulitple Streams of Interntet Income."

Robert Kiyosaki: The Rich Dad, Poor Dad series. I believe I have just about every book he wrote. The most compelling books for me in the series were "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," and "Cashflow Quadrant," although every book he penned is fantastic. I even bought the "Cashflow Game" which is so much fun and extremely educational. Who would have thought the two can go hand-in-hand? :-) He also has a CD entitled, "Rich Dad's Secrets" which makes drive time much more productive!

Dennis Waitley: The Psychology of Winning, The New Dynamics of Goal Setting, Seeds of Greatness.

John C. Maxwell: Winning With People, Thinking For a Change, and 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.

Steven K. Scott: Solomon's Treasures. Whether you are a believer in the Bible or not (I am), King Solomon's wisdom on success is still so relevant.

There are so many other wonderful books. Read, study, and read some more as you build your business.

Nightingale Conant is a great site, too, for books on personal development. When you visit Nightingale-Conant, make sure to check out the mission statement tool and make your own mission statement. Here is how mine turned out:

My purpose is to express my ability to not be afraid to fail, to focus, and have faith, by trying new things and taking calculated risks, by elimating extra-curricular activities until my goal is met and by believing in The Creator, and that He created me to believe in Him and my abilities. The result of these goals is to contribute significantly the household income, purchase the house in Miami only 2 blocks from my sister, replace my wedding ring which was taken from me, and obtain at least $120,000.00 by 5/9/2009.

It can get a little wordy, but after a little editing, it's a great statement to repeat to yourself everyday twice a day. Thoughts become things. So might as well fill your head, heart and soul with good thoughts! That's what Napoleon Hill says to do. And it works!

I encourage you to start on a library of personal development books and come up with a plan to read all of them. And incorporate what it said in those books everyday so they become habit. And, guaranteed, when you make create good habits, you will have success in network marketing of great proportions!

Another routine activity to achieve success in network marketing is to attend seminars and conferences. It's easy to do, yet so easy not to do, too! But when you attend, you not only enhance your business, you enhance you.
