A Customer Appreciation Letter or Card to Build Relationships

This business requires a whole lot more than just signing up team members or getting customers. In my opinion, the most challenging part is keeping them happy and remembering why they are doing business with you in the first place.

A customer appreciation letter once every other month or so really lets your people know they mean more to you than their money.

Think about it: You spend a good bit of time talking and listening to them, following-up and training your customer/team member. When that phase is done, how often do they hear from you? If you were like me, probably not often. I was getting a check, so, so what...right?

Wrong.

People like to feel appreciated, it's human nature. These days, the only thing that separates one company from another is how they treat their customers. If they treat me properly, I am more than happy to pay them for their services. Vonage is one of those companies. I had a technical problem and took a whole day to fix. They were patient, and even set up my wireless router which was beyond their call of duty. Then, the next day that same technical support person called me the next day to make sure everything was working properly! I was not expecting that and it was awesome. I love that company!

And that is the reaction we should be getting from our customers in our own businesses. We can't rely on corporate to do it for us--we are independent contractors so it is our business and duty to make our customers feel appreciated.

Along with the other tools on this site, a simple customer appreciation letter or card is another great solution to set yourself apart from everyone else in the industry. Make sure you get their birthday so you can send them a card then, too. It makes a huge difference.

How many birthday cards have you received from any of the companies you deal with?

Writing and sending out a customer appreciation letter or card has never been easier.

Whether you have 50 or 1000+ customers or team members, it will take you less than 5 minutes to write, stamp and send it out with your handwriting, signature, and company logo.

Cool, huh?
